Going Into the Woods to get your wish -- every fairy tale has characters that go on that journey. Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony-winning musical blends the characters and stories of Jack and the Beanstalk; Cinderella; Rapunzel; Little Red Riding Hood; and a Baker and his Wife as they all go on the journeys of their lives to get their hearts' deepest wishes....and then in Act Two have to deal with the dark consequences of finding out that "sometimes what you most wish for is not to be touched." Complex music and thought-provoking life lessons also take the audience on a journey that proves in the end, all is well and that we are responsible to each other. |
