For Your Consideration
Home Up For Your Consideration Ideas Submission Form

As you decide what show(s) you would like to submit, please keep the following helpful information in mind:

TIME SLOTS:  LPL produces 4 shows per season.  Traditionally we schedule shows for October, December (children's Christmas musical), February (dinner theatre), and May, with auditions approximately 8 weeks before opening night.

VENUES:

SPRAGUE THEATRE, downtown Elkhorn.  Our home, the Sprague is a historic auditorium with near perfect acoustics.  Over the years it has been used for theatre and vaudeville productions and as a movie house.  We are renovating it to become a performing arts center.  The Sprague can accommodate a maximum cast of 45 and has lighting and sound systems.

MONTE CARLO ROOM, north Elkhorn.  The Monte Carlo Room is our "home away from home" for our February dinner theatre productions.  It is part of a local restaurant that caters the dinner in its banquet facility.  The Monte Carlo Room has a small stage that we can extend, and we provide lighting and sound.  Backstage/dressing space is limited.  We recommend smaller casts (maximum 20).

ACTORS:  We are fortunate to attract talented actors and actresses of all ages to our auditions.  However, we tend to draw more females than males.  If you plan to submit a show that has a large number of male characters, you should anticipate some creativity in casting all the parts.

SUPPORT STAFF:  We have a dedicated group of volunteers ready to help make your show a success.  You should plan on recruiting your assistant director, choreographer, musical director and musicians (as needed).  We can provide recommendations.

We have committees and officers to organize the following:  technical (set, light and sound); publicity; house management; and tickets.  We provide a producer to take care of the behind-the-scenes details so you can concentrate on directing.  We also can provide a stage manager.

CAST EXPECTATIONS:  Expect costumes, props and make-up to be a joint effort between the cast and crew (we have some props and a costume collection.)  We also ask the cast to help sell tickets and advertise the show.

SHOW RECOMMENDATIONS:   We always want to hear what the directors want to do.  We also welcome suggestions from our membership.  If you are interested in directing but don’t have a specific show in mind, be sure to send us an interest note and we may be able to match you with a show.
