New Beautiful Doors have been added.

No more leaks, no more wind blowing in. No more locks that jam. The front doors on the theater have been replaced with beautiful solid, quiet strong new doors with green trim which match the exterior of the building perfectly. Things have really been changing at the theater, to the audiences that attend Crazy For You, the difference may be subtle to sum and amazing to others, but what matters is that we are repairing, replacing, and restoring our theater a door, a window and a can of paint at a time.

Roof Roof

If you have been to any of the theater productions this year, you may have noticed dark patches on the ceiling. In reality, the patches have turned into leaks in other parts of theater. The roof needs to be replaced, it is our biggest problem at the moment. The estimate is roughly $22,000. Lakeland Players will continue to do fundraisers and excellent programming but we could use help with ideas to get through our latest financial stress. So, if you have don't have an extra $20,000 lying around, then consider helping us raise some funds a little at a time. Thank you for helping to save the theater!

It was an unbelievable dream come true.  At Christmas 2002, Lakeland Players Ltd. received the unexpected and tremendous news that a single benefactor had decided to donate $14,000 for the new curtains!  In addition to the $900 raised by the Elkhorn Middle School and the monies donated by the Oliver!, talent show, and Damn Yankees audiences, in February 2003 we finally had enough money raised to order our beautiful new curtains.

The curtains were given their community premiere at It's Showtime! in May.  Thank you to everyone who donated money, spread the word, and contributed to this major project just in time for our theatre's 75th birthday!

April 2002 -- Fundraising begins

We have begun a fundraising campaign to earn the money for brand-new stage curtains to replace the shabby rags we currently have.  Please help us by making a donation to the fund.  All donations are tax deductible.  100 percent of the money raised goes to the curtain fund.

Our curtains really have become a community disgrace.  They are ragged and stained, and “hemmed” with duct tape.  All of us attending the Holton Band concert in December will agree that the state of our curtains was embarrassing to say the least, and were a shameful representation of our club.  Our audiences deserve to see something better than those hanging scraps.

When we got the professional quote for the curtains, we learned that to do the entire stage properly -- front curtain, a middle “traveler,” two sets of side “legs”, a back curtain, and installation – would cost $15,000.  However, the curtain company said if we do the project in stages (ie., front curtain this summer, back curtain next year), it will be more expensive because they have to re-set up their scaffolding every time.

We can do this.  $15,000 is a lot of money, but it would be well worth it to have a proper and beautiful set of professional curtains!   Our technical crew will have more to work with when they design sets, and we won’t be shamed when we host audiences.

Thank you, everyone, for your support, ideas, and encouragement.  We look forward to performing with you behind those beautiful new curtains some time soon!
